Volunteer opportunity: Board Treasurer
Description: The Treasurer is a volunteer position with Good Sweet Earth Grassroots, serving on the organization's executive committee, that will oversee and manage the organization's financial reports, financial management, execution of duties that balance the budget as well as impact public perception, trust and assurance. They are also responsible for ensuring all income and expenses are accounted for; maintaining accurate records of all donations, grants, sponsorships and other income, as well as expenditures, donations made to other organizations and more. The Treasurer will create financial reports to present during the Board's quarterly meetings. They must be knowledgeable about handling money, understand finances, know how to create and maintain budgets, and know about accounting systems. The Treasurer will partner with and meet with the President and Executive Director to ensure the organization’s financials remain in line with the core values, mission and vision statement of Good Sweet Earth Grassroots. This is largely a remote position, but candidates must be able to spend 1-3 hours per month on volunteer activities related to the Treasurer position. Term is two years, with possibility for additional terms.
Experience: Qualified candidates should be passionate about the mission of Good Sweet Earth Grassroots, and willing to promote the organization's mission to the general public. Applicants must be 18 years of age. In addition, qualified candidates should possess at least three of the following:

- Degree (Associates or Bachelors) in accounting or recordkeeping;
- 1-3 years of recordkeeping or accounting experience for a for-profit or non-profit organization;
- Experience serving on the Board of a nonprofit;
- Willingness and ability to take training courses on nonprofit finances;
- Meticulous attention to detail.
