Tarda Tulips

$3.50

Pack contains seven bulbs. Bulbs will be delivered in early October.

Tarda is a tulip pollinators love. Star-shaped, wide open and loaded with pollen, plus as an early- to mid-bloomer, it's one of the first food sources of the season for hungry bees just coming out of their winter hibernation.

Plant these closely and you'll get a glittering yellow-and-white carpet in early spring. Give them sun and decent drainage and they'll come back year after year, which is more than you can say for many tulips. They're native to the mountains of western China, which means they're built tough and perfectly happy with Michigan's freeze-thaw spring.

Plant them in October or November, about 3 inches deep in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Tarda tulips top out at 5–7 inches tall, so they're best up front where you can see them. Expect blooms in early to mid spring — right when your pollinators need them most.
